The Stone that Struck the Image
for TTBB voices, cello, and percussion
Op. 33 (2025)

Another piece I was able to complete swiftly in the summer of 2025, this one was written with the St. Benedict Singers of Benedictine College in mind, and for my friend and colleague Tim Tharaldson, their conductor. The work adapts the text from the biblical story from the prophet Daniel, in which King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream of a large statue ("image") which is made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay. The image is struck and destroyed by a large stone that grows in the a mountain, signifying God's unending kingdom. The piece is sung in both English and Hebrew.
